IoT device on ESP32-S3 with a screen simulator
Firmware for a hardware panel: system status, alerts and commands under a rotary knob, connected over Bluetooth LE.
A recording and screenshots from the screen simulator: the same code as the firmware, labels translated to Polish, sample data (made-up services and track); the 320×170 screen shown at 3:1 in the recording and 4:1 in the screenshots, section scrolling between the chart and the machine list cut from the recording.
Task
A physical panel was needed to watch alerts and trigger quick actions, without storing any passwords on the device.
Solution
C++ firmware with an encrypted Bluetooth LE service. The server runs only allow-listed commands, and critical actions require a PIN. The simulator compiles the same code on a computer and compares screenshots on every build.
Result
- Over 1,800 commits
- 9.2 h on battery with the screen on
- Every UI change verified with screenshots
- No Wi-Fi and no passwords on the device
My role
